Zambia has primarily used the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system, also known as Single Member Plurality System, where the candidate with the most votes in a constituency wins, regardless of whether they achieve an absolute majority. This system is used for presidential, parliamentary, and local government elections. While simple to administer, it can sometimes result in a party winning majority seats without majority popular vote.
