Q: Which of the following is a major cardiac biomarker used in diagnosing myocardial infarction?

This statement is true. Charged or positively coated slides (e.g., poly-L-lysine or silane-coated slides) are standard in IHC to prevent tissue sections from detaching or washing off during the rigorous and often harsh procedural steps. The process of IHC involves multiple cycles of heating (during HIER), enzymatic digestion (during PIER), vigorous washing, and chemical treatments. Regular glass slides have a neutral or slightly negative charge, providing weak electrostatic adhesion for the tissue section, which is also negatively charged. Positively charged slides create a strong ionic bond with the negatively charged tissue, anchoring it firmly. This is especially critical for thin sections (3-5 microns) and for delicate tissues. Losing a tissue section during processing would ruin the test, waste valuable specimen, and delay diagnosis, making secure adhesion a fundamental technical requirement.
