Ethical Decision-Making in Clinical Practice
Q: Which principle guides ethical end-of-life decisions?
Did You Know?
A nursing model is a comprehensive representation of nursing that includes concepts, values, and theoretical bases for practice. Nursing models provide a systematic way to understand what nursing is, what nurses do, and how nursing contributes to health care. They typically include components such as the person (patient), environment, health, and nursing (the metaparadigm concepts). Models guide all aspects of nursing practice, from assessment and diagnosis to intervention and evaluation. Examples include the Neuman Systems Model, which views patients as systems responding to stressors, and Johnson's Behavioral System Model, which focuses on behavioral subsystems. Nursing models provide the foundation for developing nursing theories and guide education, research, and practice.
