Q: What is the name of the procedure used to visualize the colon?

Did You Know?

This statement is false. While bacterial infections are a known cause of prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate gland), they are not the only cause. Prostatitis is actually classified into several categories, only two of which are primarily bacterial. Acute bacterial prostatitis is a sudden, severe infection usually caused by common urinary tract pathogens like E. coli. Chronic bacterial prostatitis involves recurrent bacterial infections. However, the most common form is chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS), which presents with pelvic pain and urinary symptoms but no evidence of bacterial infection in standard tests. Its cause is not fully understood but may involve autoimmune responses, neurological dysfunction, or muscular issues. There is also a fourth category, asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis, which is found incidentally and causes no symptoms. Therefore, prostatitis encompasses a spectrum of conditions with diverse etiologies.
