While pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) can occur, it is less common with Trichomonas compared to Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. Infertility is a potential long-term complication of PID but not a direct, immediate complication of untreated trichomoniasis in pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is also associated with PID, not directly with Trichomonas. Therefore, the most directly linked complication in pregnancy is preterm delivery.
