This statement is true. Hot flashes (or hot flushes) are a very common side effect of Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) for prostate cancer. ADT drastically reduces testosterone levels, which disrupts the body's thermoregulatory mechanisms, leading to sudden feelings of intense warmth, sweating, and flushing, typically in the face, neck, and chest. These can be frequent and severe, significantly impacting quality of life. Other common side effects of ADT include loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, weight gain, gynecomastia (breast tenderness/enlargement), and an increased risk of osteoporosis and metabolic syndrome. Managing these side effects is an important part of caring for men on long-term ADT.
