The inferior petrosal sinuses run from the posterior aspect of the cavernous sinus, along the petro-occipital fissure, to drain directly into the jugular bulb at the origin of the internal jugular vein. They are a major drainage route from the cavernous sinus to the sigmoid sinus/jugular system.
