Did You Know?
VDJ recombination is the somatic DNA rearrangement process that occurs in developing B and T lymphocytes. It randomly selects and joins Variable (V), Diversity (D, in heavy chains and TCR β chains), and Joining (J) gene segments. This combinatorial joining, along with junctional flexibility, creates an enormous repertoire of unique antigen receptors.
