When spun to the right, the inertia of the endolymph in the horizontal canals causes it to flow relative to the canal walls, stimulating hair cells. This primarily stimulates the right horizontal canal (endolymph flow toward the utricle). This leads to nystagmus with the fast phase to the right (same direction as spin).
