Q: Tumour-Specific Transplantation Antigens (TSTAs) are unique to tumor cells and are not found on normal cells.

Did You Know?

False. The string test (Entero-Test) is a useful, non-invasive diagnostic tool that can be employed when stool examinations are repeatedly negative and clinical suspicion remains high. It involves swallowing a gelatin capsule containing a weighted string. The string passes into the duodenum, where bile-stained mucus containing Giardia trophozoites (if present) adheres to it. The string is then retrieved and examined microscopically. While it is more sensitive than a single stool exam and less invasive than endoscopy, it is not the gold standard. The diagnostic gold standard for giardiasis is typically the identification of cysts or trophozoites in stool samples, often using a combination of direct microscopy, concentration techniques, and immunoassays. In difficult cases, direct sampling via endoscopy with duodenal biopsy or aspirate provides the most definitive tissue-based diagnosis, allowing for both organism detection and assessment of mucosal pathology.
