Q: Which of the following is an X-linked recessive disorder?

Did You Know?

True. The vast majority of primary antibodies used in IHC are of the immunoglobulin G (IgG) class. IgG antibodies are the most abundant type in serum and are the workhorses of the adaptive immune system for recognizing pathogens and other antigens. They are preferred for IHC for several reasons: they have high affinity and specificity for their targets, they are relatively stable molecules, and they are easily produced in large quantities (both polyclonally in animals and monoclonally via hybridoma technology). Furthermore, most commercially available secondary antibodies are designed to detect the Fc region of IgG from common host species (like mouse, rabbit, or goat). While other antibody classes like IgM (which is pentameric and large) or IgA exist, their use in standard IHC is very rare. Some primary antibodies may be IgM, but they are often problematic for IHC due to their size and potential for non-specific binding.
