Did You Know?
Percentage error is simply relative error expressed as a percentage. To convert from decimal to percentage, multiply by 100%. Formula: Percentage Error = Relative Error × 100%. Calculation: 0.015 × 100% = 1.5%. This conversion is straightforward but important. In ECZ marking schemes, if a question asks for percentage error and you give the relative error (or vice versa), you may lose marks even though mathematically they represent the same thing. The difference is only in presentation: 0.015 (relative error) = 1.5% (percentage error). ECZ examiners often test whether students understand this relationship, particularly in practical science papers.
