CCI stands for Corrected Count Increment. It is a calculation used to assess the effectiveness of a platelet transfusion. It corrects the observed increase in platelet count for the patient's body size and the number of platelets transfused. A low CCI suggests platelet refractoriness, which can be due to immune causes (e.g., HLA antibodies) or non-immune causes (e.g., fever, infection, splenomegaly).
