Question 1 of 100 Course: Biomedical Science(Degree)

Which organism shows swarming motility?

Did you know?

True. ELISA and IHC are both immunoassays that rely on the specific binding of an antibody to its target antigen. The core principle is identical. However, they differ fundamentally in their format and output. **IHC** is performed on thin sections of tissue mounted on glass slides. Its output is a visual, spatially resolved image showing the distribution of the antigen within the tissue architecture. **ELISA** is typically performed in a 96-well plastic plate. The antigen (often from a liquid sample like serum, plasma, or cell culture supernatant) is adsorbed onto the plastic well. Subsequent antibody incubations and enzymatic detection produce a color change in the entire well solution, which is measured by a spectrophotometer to give a quantitative concentration. ELISA provides a numerical value but loses all spatial information. While both are indispensable, IHC is for localization within morphology, and ELISA is for quantification in solution.
