This pattern describes **Intermittent fever**. In this type, the body temperature rises above normal but returns to the normal baseline at least once within a 24-hour period. The fever 'intermittently' comes and goes. This is a classic pattern seen in certain infections like malaria, pyemia, or septicemia. It differs from a **remittent fever**, where the temperature fluctuates but always remains above normal, and from a **continuous fever**, where there is little fluctuation and the temperature remains steadily elevated.
