Latanoprost is a prostaglandin F2α analog. Its primary mechanism in glaucoma is to increase the outflow of aqueous humor through the uveoscleral pathway (an alternative drainage route through the ciliary muscle and sclera). This reduces intraocular pressure effectively and is additive to other classes of glaucoma drugs.
