Creativity, Innovation, and Change Management
Q: What is the fundamental difference between creativity and innovation in the context of leadership and management?

A quarantine area in a blood bank is a designated, controlled storage space where newly received blood products (from a blood center or other hospital) are held until all required quality control and testing is completed and reviewed. This is a critical safety function. When a unit arrives, it may not yet have confirmed infectious disease marker results, or its ABO/Rh typing may need verification by the receiving hospital. Placing it in quarantine prevents it from being accidentally issued to a patient before it is deemed safe. Once all results are confirmed as satisfactory (negative for infections, correct typing), the unit is 'released' from quarantine into the general available inventory. This system ensures that only fully tested and validated blood products are available for transfusion, protecting patients from infections and ABO errors.
