Among the options, Entamoeba coli is a non-pathogenic intestinal amoeba. It is a commensal found in the human large intestine and its presence does not cause disease. Its identification is important primarily to distinguish it from the pathogenic Entamoeba histolytica. Entamoeba histolytica (A) is pathogenic, causing amebic dysentery and liver abscess. Giardia lamblia (C) is pathogenic, causing giardiasis. Dientamoeba fragilis (D) is of debated pathogenicity; some consider it a commensal, while others associate it with gastrointestinal symptoms, so it is not 'typically' considered non-pathogenic without controversy.
