Crossmatch Compatibility Testing
Q: Donor red cells. Incompatibility is indicated by agglutination (clumping) or hemolysis (destruction) of the red cells, which signals the presence of antibodies in the recipient's serum that react with antigens on the donor red cells.
Did You Know?
The motility test differentiates Klebsiella (non-motile) from Enterobacter (motile). Other tests like ornithine decarboxylase (Klebsiella negative, Enterobacter positive) and citrate (both positive) also help differentiate them.
