Enzyme inducers like drug B increase the activity and amount of liver enzymes. Since these enzymes break down drug A, induction speeds up its metabolism (increases its clearance). At the original maintenance dose, the rate of drug A elimination now becomes greater than the rate of administration. This causes the plasma concentration of drug A to fall until a new, lower steady-state concentration is reached.
Break down complex topics into smaller, manageable chunks for easier recall.
