To compensate for the faster metabolism caused by drug B, the maintenance dose of drug A must be increased. The dosing interval might also need adjustment. Once the new, higher dose regimen is started, it will take approximately 4 to 5 half-lives of drug A to reach the new (original target) steady-state concentration, as this is the standard time for any change in dosing to fully take effect.
