Hematuria is the presence of blood in urine, which can be visible (gross hematuria) or detectable only under a microscope (microscopic hematuria). Causes include urinary tract infections, kidney stones, trauma, glomerulonephritis, or malignancies. Assessment involves urinalysis, history, and imaging. Nurses monitor urine output, educate patients on reporting symptoms, and assist in diagnostic procedures to identify the underlying cause and guide appropriate treatment.
Break down complex topics into smaller, manageable chunks for easier recall.
