Etanercept is a biologic DMARD. It is a recombinant fusion protein that combines two extracellular domains of the human TNF receptor with the Fc portion of human IgG1. It acts as a soluble decoy receptor, binding TNF-α and preventing it from activating cell-surface TNF receptors.
