The NF-κB transcription factor family consists of dimers formed from five related proteins: RELA (p65), RELB, c-REL, p50, and p52. In the canonical pathway, the most common dimer is p50/RELA. These factors, when released from inhibition and translocated to the nucleus, bind to specific DNA sequences to regulate genes involved in inflammation, survival, and proliferation.
