Q: What is the drug of choice for the treatment of neurocysticercosis?
Did You Know?
Ethosuximide is considered the first-line drug for treating absence seizures (petit mal) because it specifically targets T-type calcium channels in the thalamus, which are involved in generating the 3 Hz spike-and-wave pattern characteristic of these seizures. Valproate is also effective but has a broader mechanism and more side effects.
