Patient transfer refers to the safe and effective movement of a patient from one surface to another (e.g., bed to chair, bed to stretcher) or from one care location to another (e.g., hospital room to radiology). It requires assessment of the patient's condition and ability, use of proper body mechanics and assistive devices (like transfer belts or mechanical lifts), adequate assistance, and clear communication to prevent injury to both the patient and the healthcare workers.
Break down complex topics into smaller, manageable chunks for easier recall.
