Research Methodology in Forensic Science

Research methodology provides the framework for conducting valid, reliable, and ethical scientific studies to advance forensic science knowledge and practice. For Zambian university students at the diploma and degree levels, this topic covers the design of experiments, data collection and analysis, hypothesis testing, literature review, and scholarly writing. In the context of Zambian forensic science, locally relevant research is needed to validate methods, understand regional crime patterns, and develop context-appropriate solutions. This module prepares students to undertake final year projects, contribute to academic publications, and apply evidence-based approaches to casework. It equips the next generation of Zambian forensic professionals with the skills to critically evaluate existing practices, innovate, and contribute to the global body of forensic science knowledge from a uniquely African perspective.
