Sensory Systems and Pathways
Q: High-frequency vibration is signaled by Pacinian corpuscles.
Did You Know?
Olfactory receptor neurons send axons through the cribriform plate to synapse on mitral cells in the olfactory bulb. Mitral cell axons then project directly to the olfactory cortex (piriform cortex) without first relaying in the thalamus, unlike other sensory modalities.
