This statement is generally false. Condyloma Acuminatum, caused primarily by low-risk strains of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) such as types 6 and 11, is considered a benign lesion with an extremely low potential for malignant transformation. These warts are exophytic (grow outward) and do not typically invade underlying tissues. In contrast, premalignant penile lesions like Bowen's disease (squamous cell carcinoma in situ) or Erythroplasia of Queyrat are caused by high-risk HPV strains (like 16 and 18) and have a significant risk of progressing to invasive squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore, while genital warts are a sexually transmitted infection requiring treatment to remove the lesions and prevent transmission, they are not considered a direct precursor to cancer. However, the presence of any wart-like lesion warrants proper diagnosis to rule out other conditions.
