True. EBNA3C is another latent EBV nuclear antigen that functions as a transcriptional regulator. One of its key roles in B-cell immortalization is to repress the expression of the pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family member, Bim (Bcl-2-interacting mediator of cell death). By downregulating Bim, EBNA3C (often in cooperation with EBNA2) helps infected B-cells evade apoptosis, a critical step in their survival and eventual transformation.
