Q: What is the primary difference between antigenic drift and antigenic shift?
Did You Know?
Enzymes remove certain glycoproteins (like sialic acid) from the red cell surface. This destroys some antigens (e.g., M, N, Fyᵃ, Fyᵇ) while enhancing the reactivity of others (e.g., Rh, Kidd, Lewis). The change in reaction pattern helps pinpoint the antibody specificity.
