Forensic Audio and Video Analysis

Forensic audio and video analysis is the scientific examination, authentication, and enhancement of multimedia recordings for use as legal evidence. For Zambian tertiary students in forensic science and digital forensics programs, this topic covers critical techniques such as audio enhancement to clarify speech in noisy recordings, video authentication to detect tampering or 'deepfakes,' and the analysis of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage to identify individuals, objects, or sequences of events. In Zambia's rapidly digitizing society, evidence from mobile phones, security cameras, and social media platforms is increasingly central to investigations of fraud, assault, public order offenses, and even terrorism. This module prepares university and college graduates for specialized roles within law enforcement agencies, equipping them with the technical skills to extract reliable intelligence from multimedia sources, ensure the integrity of such evidence, and present clear, understandable findings in Zambian courts to support the judicial process.
