Introduction to Forensic Science
Q: Which of the following is NOT considered a branch of forensic science?
Did You Know?
True. The minor crossmatch (testing donor plasma against recipient red cells) was used to detect donor antibodies that could harm the recipient. However, modern practice uses low-volume plasma components (like in red cell concentrates) and screens donor plasma for high-titer anti-A/B in group O donors. Therefore, the minor crossmatch has been largely abandoned as it provides little additional safety benefit.
