This course introduces major theoretical frameworks for direct clinical practice, including systems theory, ecological perspective, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), crisis intervention, and strengths-based approaches. Students learn to select and apply models for assessment, intervention, and evaluation with individuals, families, and small groups, adapting them to Zambian cultural contexts. This skill set is foundational for roles as a Medical Social Worker at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), a Counselor in school settings, or a Case Manager with NGOs addressing mental health and trauma. 25schools provides comparative charts of therapeutic models, simulated case exercises from Zambian settings, and guides on developing treatment plans, offering crucial resources for students at CBU and UNZA to prepare for exams and begin forming their integrative clinical approach.
